Mary Magdalene

and The Mapless Journey
1

Hi Friends,

Yesterday at SpeakEasy, I shared a talk about Mary Magdalene. If you missed it, you can check out the video above.

Mary Magdalene was a woman whose story has been shaped, praised, distorted, and misunderstood over the centuries. Sometimes honored as a saint, sometimes reduced to a symbol of shame and sin, her legacy reminds us that so much depends on who is holding the pen.

Those who hold the pen hold the power.

The story of Mary Magdalene, holy and whore, shows us how narratives are built, and how easily they can be rewritten by those in power. It’s why writing our own stories matters so much. It’s how we honor our experiences, our truths, and our journeys.

At 3 PM CT today, I’ll be hosting our weekly Zoom Story Salon for all paid members. This is a space where we work on writing and crafting our stories. Or where you can come to listen. Whether or not you can join, I encourage you to find ways to honor your truth. Telling it, even just to yourself, is healing. It’s powerful. And it helps ensure that your experience is seen, valued, and remembered.

If you're a regular at Story Salon, leave a comment to say if you’ll be sharing a longer piece.
